This week, I have the pleasure of reviewing The Chequered Lily, a mineral makeup shop on Etsy.
Long story short: These shadows are GORGEOUS! The swatches on Etsy give you an idea of how the colors look, but they are all even more beautiful in person. My choices were Jareth, Oakmoss, The Labyrinth, Hearts in Ice, Haute Cocoa, November and Crackberry. When I ordered, I expected them to be different browns and purples and wasn't expecting much excitement. I was dead wrong. They are much more complex than they appear.
The Labyrinth: Muddy Deep Violet-Brown with Blue and Aqua Sparkle.
Vanilla Lace: Creamy Shimmering Ivory with bronze glitter.
Oakmoss: Cool toned brown with golden-green metallic sheen.
Jareth V2.0: Smokey Rose-Cocoa Brown with Blue and Violet Reflect.
Crackberry: Deep blue-purple with intense blue reflect and turquoise glitter.
November: Medium brown with subtle green shimmer and orange glitter.
Haute Cocoa: Medium Cocoa Brown with Intense Gold, Bronze, and Chocolate Glitter.
Hearts in Ice: Royal blue with subtle violet undertone and intense red iridescence.
So let's get to the swatches.
(L to R: The Labyrinth, Vanilla Lace, OakMoss, Jareth V2.0, Crackberry)
(Top to Bottom: November, Haute Cocoa)
And my favorite.....Hearts in Ice!
See what I mean? Definitely not boring browns and purples. My favorites are Hearts in Ice, The Labyrinth and Crackberry. They look nothing like I expected, but in a good way.
Quick EOTD using Jareth V2.0 on the lid, The Labyrinth on the outer lid, November in the crease and Vanilla Lace as a highlight. Please ignore my brows. I couldn't be bothered to fill them in today.
I would definitely recommend that everyone try The Chequered Lily. Samples are extremely affordable at $4 for a set of 7 samples, and full sizes are a steal at $6.50.
